Goodbye!

The time has come to bid adieu to the Idle Wife blog. I know, I know. I said it a million times that the inspiration would come again. "Soon," I said, "I'll have the energy to come up with another brilliant DIY project! Soon! Soon!"

I can't even say I'll have the desire to share fixations or desktop backgrounds with you again. I'm still very much active on the internet. It's not like I don't have the time for it. I just don't want to right now.

The DIY and home improvement blogs I used to draw a lot of inspiration from have become more about sponsorships, book deals, and having a team of crafters at your disposal, and I feel like everything has gotten extremely monotonous. I don't want to be just another blog with the same project in a different colour (and I definitely don't want to take my one successful project and continue using it as the starting point for every subsequent project on my blog). So since I feel as though there's nothing more I can add to this party, the time has come for me to go.

At any rate, I'm not going to shut the blog doors completely. This site will remain long after I'm gone and if you still have a question or problem about the bath bombs or... well that's the only one you all care about, I will receive notifications and I'll reply as quickly as I can.

You can still find me Pinning feverishly, but Facebook and Twitter will be silent.

Thank you for reading this humble blog and taking an interest in the stuff that I made. I had a fun ride!

So I'm doing pineapples because that's what everyone else is doing. Not really but sorry nonetheless. I just keep seeing these darn things everywhere and, for once, I actually kinda like them. This was more of an experiment to see how well I'd be at sorta kinda "drawing" a pineapple in photoshop and making my own repeating pattern with it. I think it turned out ok -- graphic-like, better if viewed from a distance in my opinion. So if you don't like this particular desktop, that's cool. To be honest, in about another month I'll have seen so many pineapples, I'll never want to see another one again, either.

I'm having a moment with neutrals and neon brights. This month's calendar was inspired by this pin. I really love that look. I need to find myself a trench coat.

So far, one of my favourite stores in Finland has got to be Tiger. I don't know quite how to describe it other than to say it's sort of like an upscale, cooler version of the dollar store. There're so many neat things, I usually have to wander around twice just to get a look at everything.

Probably one of the best things I've spotted was a basic spirograph. Since getting this mini one, I have not been able to put it down. The combination of patterns is endless and no matter what I do, the designs always turn out super pretty. I'm completely addicted!

Thankfully, we have gotten ourselves a scanner/printer, so I made some designs and scanned them in for a desktop wallpaper this month. I hope you like it!

friday fixations

{fantastic franks} Oh man, these house listings are killing me! Not only is the styling and photography fantastic, but they've also added gifs. For a real estate company, this is pretty killer (found here).

{what city should you live in?} This is a fun little quiz. I had to guesstimate on a couple of them -- I don't have a favourite Beyonce. But I got London, what did you get?

{craigslist mirrors} When I first heard about this, I was very much meh about it but now I can't look away. Some of these are surprisingly artistic! This is just one of my favourites.

{cereal tea} This idea makes me smile! Can you imagine getting a little box of CEREAL tea as a gift? I wish I would have thought of it first!

{chinese new year} I really like this song. And also happy year of the horse!
